Sardines are one of the most popular blue fishes, characterized by silver scales on their belly that reflect the sun’s rays penetrating the sea to blind predators and protect them. They are especially abundant in the coastal areas of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, where they inhabit large schools. They are usually caught in the summer when they are closer to the surface.

Sardines are caught using traditional fishing methods that ensure sustainability and care for the marine environment.

Canning process

Minerva’s sardine preserves are made with the best selected specimens caught in the campaign with the highest quality. They are hand-packed one by one and accompanied by a covering liquid based on exquisite-tasting olive oil.

Canned foods undergo a sterilization process by exposing them to a temperature of 118ºC, eliminating any bacteria or microorganisms that could affect food preservation.

Conservation and harmonization

The preserves are ready to eat, saving time and facilitating culinary work. They do not need to be refrigerated; just store them in a dry place. Once opened, if not consumed entirely, it is advisable to store the excess in a separate container in the refrigerator for a maximum of 48 hours.

It is recommended to consume at room temperature, as it comes in the can, as an appetizer or accompanied by soft bread to appreciate the flavor and quality of this product.
