The Amorim family has been in the cork business for decades. The love of cork has inevitably led to a similar love of wine. Twenty years ago they bought, among other things, Quinta Nova in the Douro. In 2018, after gaining the necessary experience, the group decided to invest in another classic wine region, the Dão, by acquiring Taboadella. The winery goes back to Roman times and even has a Roman lagar (simply put: a large container in which grapes are pounded). Located in Silvã de Cima, in the heart of the Dão wine region, the estate consists of a single piece of 40 hectares of vineyard, at an altitude between 400 and 530 meters above sea level. About 11 hectares are dedicated to the white grape varieties: encruzado, bical and cercial. Grape varieties that you don't often find outside the Dão, but that do very well here on the granite soils. The grapes are processed in the state-of-the-art winery that the Anorim Group had designed by architect Carlos Castanheira. The alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks (80%) and cement tulip-shaped tanks (20%)

An atypical spring, initially quite cold, combined with the deliberate technical option to delay pruning, led to a delay in the overall harvest cycle, making it possible to avoid exposure to the late frosts that occurred in the first half of April, in the Dão Demarcated Wine Region. Flowering of the vines in the sunny weather propitiated generous formation of the grapes, giving rise to complete bunches. There was no rainfall in June, July and August, with high daytime temperatures and mild nights, which permitted good development of the bunches. These thermal amplitudes in the perfectly planted and adapted vineyards, combined with the high level of water in the subsoil, enabled balanced evolution of the maturation process, and resulted in an exceptional quality of the grapes. The specific conditions of Taboadella's microclimate enabled us to make wines with a profile and richness that reflect this unique terroir. The white grapes benefited from a high concentration of aromas and structure in this year of extraordinarily favourable climatic conditions

Dow’s Fine White is produced from traditional Douro Valley white grape varieties and is
fermented between 18-22 Celsius, without contact with the skins. Aged for an average of three years it is bottled when ready to drink and requires no further ageing.

TASTING NOTE
Aged primarily in wood, Dow’s Fine White is a rich golden colour and presents intense complex and rich nutty aromas. A certain amount of wine is not wood aged and is blended in to add freshness and fruit character. On the palate, balanced and smooth, with excellent acidity and a long finish.

SERVING & PAIRING
Serve chilled to enhance the crisp fruit flavours or alternatively as a Port & Tonic: 50ml Fine White Port, topped up with tonic water, plenty of ice, lemon and fresh mint. Delicious served as an aperitif.

The Red Wine Nossa Calcário, vintage 2017 from the winery Filipa Pato has been rated in 2021 with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Bairrada in Portugal.

From up to 80-year-old Baga vines. Dark fruit with smoky nuances and herbs, becoming increasingly savoury with air. Elegant on the palate, yet grippy and not a bit fat. Present but pleasantly ripe tannins, cool freshness in the long finish. A great Baga with certain ageing potential.

Rosé is an invitation to experience delightful flavours. Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Rosé stands out due to its high structure, in a slightly more aromatic version of Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, positioning itself as wine at a very high level for great rosé lovers.

The grapes are pressed using the model executed in the French region of Provence, that uses the entire grape - the renowned blanc de noirs technique.

Structured by low temperature fermentation (11-12ºC) in stainless steel vats for almost 3 weeks, part of the lot is then aged in French and Hungarian oak barrels.

It is a wine that is worth remembering because of its primary aromas, mineral texture and final tension that ensures a long finish and the certainty that we will want more next year.

Magnificent region of Portugal, the Douro is not done surprising with its silky and mouth-filling red wines. Born under the sun, this cuvee certainly confirms it, delivering aromas of ripe black fruits, notes of spices and dried herbs, all in a very harmonious whole. The perfect match for all your mixed grill on the patio.

Dry fully ripe white wine. Gold with shiny thick citrus tears and wide edge. Dusty nose with striking freshness and a creamy texture, meaty ripe evolution with lush aromatic aftertaste. Perfect with grilled sardines and river fish, also with creamy white meat preparations; with braised root vegetables au gratin with Old Bruges cheese and with matured hard sheep cheese. This white wine is the result of a joint project between Filipa Pato and her husband to make a wine that expresses the full potential of the exceptional terroir of Óis do Bairro. This village has been known since the 19th century for its great capacity to create exceptional white wines, "grand cru", it has the richness and cut of top level white Burgundy.

Very mineral nose with a certain smokiness due to the limestone soil. It has a distinguished fruity touch of pears (typical Bical) and slightly nutty character (hazelnut, almonds, pines). After some time in the glass it even reveals thyme and honey.

The mouth is refined, creamy, relatively smooth and has present minerality, a kind of saltiness due to typical Atlantic climate. The wine is very broad in the mouth with an almost crunchy, nutty texture. The finish is voluptuous with very precise notes of preserved and ripe fruit.

This traditional method Portuguese Sparkling Rosé is produced from Baga and Bical varieties. With lovely aromatics and refreshing acidity, this would make the perfect apéritif or accompaniment to seafood dishes.

Filipa Pato & William Wouters 3B Blanc de Blancs is a vivacious sparkling wine boasting scents of white fruit, hints of citrus, and mineral undertones. On the palate, it is invigorating, forthright, and refined. This wine features effervescent bubbles, pronounced acidity, and an enduring saline finish.

From the desire to do things differently, our Republicano was born! Just like in 1910, we sought a new way of creating. Outside of the traditional blend, we only use Syrah, to better express ourselves as No Rules Wines.

Bright ruby ​​color of medium depth.
It presents an intense aromatic profile, with notes of ripe red fruit accompanied by a layer of complexity with toast, smoke and tobacco notes.
Fine and elegant. On the palate, it has full but elegant tannins with excellent body. The balance of fresh acidity, moderate alcohol content and elegant tannins make it a Syrah inspired by the “old world”. Long finish, fresh and full-bodied.
