The Book of Rose - RIZZOLI
The Provençal Vineyard That Revolutionized Rosé By Whispering Angel and Château D'Esclans
Text by Lindsey Tramuta, Photographs by Martin Bruno

Discover the story behind the award-winning rosé wines from Provence’s Château d’Esclans, which inspired the “rosé revolution.”

Château d’Esclans’s impressive estate extends across 660 acres in the heart of Provence, France. Dating back to the time of the Gauls, vines have grown on its lands for centuries. When its founder Sacha Lichine acquired the property in 2006, he was destined to shake up the wine world: he set out to create the best rosés and to forever transform their place in the collective imagination, from accessible rosés to ultra-premium, luxury wines.

Exquisitely photographed, the never-before-published images showcase the history and spirit of Château d’Esclans. From spectacular images of the vineyards throughout the seasons to an exploration of the wine-making process and the people behind it, this book invites readers to discover how rosé wines come to life, and how they embody the essence of summer insouciance and the Provençal art de vivre. Esclans’s most popular bottles—Whispering Angel, Rock Angel, Les Clans, and Garrus—are icons of contemporary oenology, beloved by celebrities and lauded by wine experts alike. An exclusive look into one of Provence’s most innovative wine-making estates, this is the perfect book for rosé enthusiasts everywhere.

From crunchy baguettes to fig bread, and from traditional brioches to trendy cruffins, this comprehensive volume teaches aspiring bakers how to master the art of the French boulangerie. Upper Crust: Homemade Bread The French Way - RIZZOLI
Author Marie-Laure Fréchet, Photographs by Valérie Lhomme, Contributions by Bérengère Abraham

An introduction to the French art of baking bread—including ingredient selection, starter cultivation, and bread-making techniques—with more than 100 recipes

The quintessential staple of French cuisine is the humble baguette, but the country’s bread-baking tradition—along with variations assimilated from other world cultures—offers a vast repertoire. With an introduction to the history of French bread, guidelines to help the home baker select the right ingredients—grain and flour varieties, water, salt, and starter—this book details the step-by-step techniques and fundamentals of bread making: from feeding the starter, kneading and preparing the dough, and baking, to more than 100 recipes.

Eighteen expert bakers and pastry chefs share the sweet and savory recipes that have forged the French bakery’s enviable reputation—from round pain de campagne or olive and oregano bread to regional breads like fougasse or the Basque talos. A new generation of chefs have developed original creations such as black baguette with sesame, matcha tea–rolled bread, buckwheat-and-seaweed galettes, and honey, fig, and hazelnut rye. A chapter on traditional breads from all around the world, such as pita, focaccia, bagels, Georgian khachapuri, and Norwegian polar bread are reinterpreted in the French style. Recipes include pains surprise, croque monsieur, onion soup with cheese croutons, and desserts such as pain perdu and kouign-amann. For each recipe, pictograms indicate the level of difficulty, time required, type of starter, and whether a recipe is gluten-free.

Collecting Fashion: Nostalgia, Passion, Obsession - RIZZOLI

Author Alexandra Carl, Contributions by Angelo Flaccavento and Dr. Dimitrios Tsivrikos
An indispensable survey of the most important archival collections assembled by fashion’s key players.

In order for fashion to march forward, it must possess the ability to look back. For the fashion obsessed, one’s archive is surely a testament to the act of preservation and, of course, a sophisticated symbol of taste. Archives take time to build, wardrobes or storage units packed to the brim with rare, archival shoes, dresses, and handbags, some never worn, are only perfected after countless hours spent on Ebay and in the depths of obscured vintage sales. The results end up being remarkable representations of fashion history.

This book gathers the preeminent collections of archival obsessives, capturing the closets of an impressive list of fashion and design talent. Readers will get an in-depth look at Michèle Lamy’s extensive Comme des Garçon archive, Sarah Andelman’s covetable (and colorful) sneaker and t-shirt collection, ENDYMA's growing Helmut Lang archive, Zaha Hadid’s fabulous footwear assemblage, and more. This tome, over 300 pages long, painstakingly showcases the subject’s archive while showing off top-tier labels and hard-to-obtain seasons: Issey Miyake, Maison Martin Margiela, Thierry Mugler, John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen, among others, and serves as an indispensable reference for those interested in fashion history and building their own archive.

Essays throughout by leading thinkers and writers provide insightful commentary alongside each collection featured in this new, enlightening fashion bible.
